IGNOU at a Glance
The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was established by an Act of Parliament in 1985.
IGNOU is providing quality education to millions across the country and outside the country also.
IGNOU follows the OPEN and DISTANCE LEARNING (ODL) Mode.
In the beginning two academic programmes were offered.
1. Diploma in Management
2. Diploma in Distance Education
and the total enrollment was 4,528 students.
Today it has got 21 school of studies and caters the educational needs of more that 3 million students in India and other foreign countries.

- IGNOU offers high-quality, innovative and need-based programmes at different levels, to all those who require them.
- 67 regional centers are there across the country.
- About 2000 Learner Support Centers are functioning across the country.
- There are 20 overseas institutions.
- Promotes, coordinate and regulate the standards of education offered through open and distance learning in the country.
- IGNOU is a leader in the use of Advance Technologies including EduSat.
